Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5581 (KB5055651) to the Dev Channel. This update introduces a variety of new features, improvements, and fixes, which are categorized into two main sections: those available to Insiders who opt into the latest updates and those rolling out to all Dev Channel users. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

Energy Saver Now Available in Microsoft Intune
The latest update brings a significant enhancement for IT administrators by integrating energy saver management into Microsoft Intune. This feature empowers administrators to control energy saver settings on Windows 11 PCs through group policies and Mobile Device Management (MDM) configurations. When activated, the energy saver intelligently optimizes battery usage, extending the time between charges. By limiting background activities and reducing screen brightness, it ensures devices consume less power while maintaining peak performance. This initiative not only helps in reducing operational costs but also supports environmental sustainability.
Administrators can enable this policy using one of the following methods:
- Local Group Policy Editor in Windows 11
- Microsoft Intune Admin Center
The configuration path in the Local Group Policy Editor can be found under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Management > Energy Saver Settings, where you can select “Enable Energy Saver to Always Be On.”

[Recall (Preview)]
- We are experimenting with various user interface treatments in Recall, including different placements for snapshot actions and the timeline.
[Taskbar & System Tray]
- The needy state pill for apps requiring attention on the taskbar has been redesigned to be wider and more noticeable.
Administrators now have the capability to allow users to unpin specific pinned apps, ensuring they remain unpinned during subsequent policy refresh cycles. To activate this feature, utilize the new PinGeneration option.
[Graphics]
Enhancements have been made to manage HDR capabilities via Settings > System > Display > HDR:
- The wording for “Use HDR” has been refined for better clarity regarding supported media types.
- For PCs equipped with HDR displays, users can now allow HDR video streaming even when HDR is disabled in settings.
- On devices with Dolby Vision displays, the option to toggle Dolby Vision mode independently from HDR has been introduced, allowing users to enjoy HDR with or without Dolby Vision based on their preferences.
Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*
[Taskbar]
- Resolved an issue that caused keyboard focus to default to widgets on the taskbar upon login, which led to unexpected widget activation.
- Fixed a problem where the WIN + CTRL + shortcut was ineffective for cycling between windows of open applications on the taskbar.
[Audio]
- Addressed an issue that prevented the startup sound from playing, despite being enabled.
[Graphics]
- Fixed an issue that resulted in unexpected scaling and window position changes after sleep/resume for certain devices.
[Windows Update]
- Resolved an issue where cumulative updates would fail with error 0x800f081f after resetting the PC.
Known Issues
[General]
- Upon joining the Dev Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2, users will no longer receive Build 26200.5518 first, but will instead be offered the most current update available in the Dev Channel.
- After performing a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, the build version may incorrectly display as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200. This discrepancy will not hinder future Beta Channel updates, which will rectify the issue.
- We are currently investigating an issue where core Windows surfaces fail to load in safe mode (including File Explorer and the Start menu) following the previous flight.
[Xbox Controllers]
- Some Insiders have reported that using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth is causing their PC to bugcheck. To resolve this, open Device Manager, navigate to “View” and select “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and uninstall it.
[Live Captions]
- [NEW] An issue has been identified where live captions are crashing on this build, and we are actively investigating it.
[Recall (Preview)]
- [REMINDER] Users maintain control and can opt to remove Recall at any time via “Turn Windows features on or off.” Removing Recall will delete entry points and binaries, although temporary copies may persist for serviceability.
- [REMINDER] Ensure Microsoft 365 apps are updated to the latest version to facilitate access to specific documents.
[Click to Do (Preview)]
- [REMINDER] Intelligent text actions are now moderated locally, enhancing safety and replacing the previous cloud endpoint. These actions are also accessible in Click to Do within Recall.
- [REMINDER] If actions on image entities are missing, please verify that you have the latest updates for the Photos and Paint apps from the Microsoft Store.
[Improved Windows Search]
- [REMINDER] For optimal performance with Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs, it is advisable to connect your device to power during the initial search indexing. You can check the indexing status under Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows.
[Start Menu]
- We are investigating reports that clicking on the profile picture does not open the Account Manager for some Insiders following the last flight.
[Task Manager]
- After the addition of the new CPU Utility column, users may notice that the System Idle Process consistently shows as 0.
- The CPU graphs on the Performance page continue to utilize the previous CPU utility calculations.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel
- Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 through an enablement package (Build 26200.xxxx).
- Updates delivered to the Dev Channel preview enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. For more information, visit this link.
- Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a select group of Insiders and gradually expanding as feedback is monitored.
- To be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, ensure the toggle is set to ON for the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. If the toggle is off, new features will be rolled out over time as they become ready.
- Features and experiences included in these builds may not always be released, as we explore various concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced and may not be available beyond Windows Insiders. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they are ready.
- Localization for features in active development may not be fully complete and will improve over time as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via Feedback Hub.
- Note that some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
- As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
- For a comprehensive overview of build statuses across Insider channels, please refer to Flight Hub.
